Living in the Present

Wear Your Good Socks

Three years ago, I opened my sock drawer with the uncanny realization that I had been saving all my best socks for the future. In many ways, that moment was life-changing, as I noticed that I had not been fully living in the present.
What if, someday, I left behind all these perfect items that ought to be enjoyed now? What were the deeper implications of my behavior?
What was I saving for the future that I could  be enjoying now?
Returning to my yoga practice is always helpful, and I often feel like a beginner.
Yoga teaches us to be more aware of the present, as we learn to notice our thoughts and actions.  The past informs our ability to practice yoga, and yoga helps to shape our future. Essentially, yoga is  embracing the present.
