TYPES OF CLASSES

THE BASICS SERIES

  • This series is designed for students new to yoga, new to Iyengar yoga, or those wishing to review  fundamentals and deepen their understanding of yoga.
  • Basics classes continue every Saturday, 10:00-11:15.

LEVEL 1

A foundation for learning the whole scope and depth of the Iyengar method, with an emphasis on standing poses. Inversions are introduced, as these are fundamental to the Iyengar system.


LEVEL 2

Deeper and expanded study of the standing poses and basic postures. Head balance, shoulderstand variations, unsupported backbends are taught.


LEVEL 3

A solid working knowledge of postures is taught with regular practice of inversions and backbends. Students will develop a consistent, self-directed practice.


YOGA FOR ATHLETES

 Practicing yoga regularly will help you form a truly dynamic body built around flexibility, balance, muscle optimization, and efficient structural alignment. In addition to the physical benefits, athletes will also discover better body awareness and sensitivity, proper energy management, and positive mental wellness that is critical to athletic success.


KIDS CLASSES

Fast-paced class designed to increase kids' body awareness, focus, strength and flexibility. Emphasis is on fun - parents welcome. Pre-registration required.


BARRE CLASSES

Barre classes will target core and upper body strength, while toning the lower body and increasing flexibility and stability.

Deborah studied classical ballet for over 15 years and minored in modern dance during college in the early 1980's.

She will combine her dance training with extensive knowledge of yoga and therapeutic body work. She is expert at teaching body alignment and has a great deal of training in physical therapy for knees, hips and shoulders.
